I am sharing my response to an article on Medium entitled "If It Doesn't Suck It Isn't Worth Doing." The author states, among other things, that self-love is a hipsteresque trend that has sadly supplanted the work ethic and impeded Americans' (especially young people's) progress toward their goals.
For the record, I believe he is wrong. Self-love is not a useless trend. It is an important development. It doesn't hinder our progress toward our goals -- it is actually the KEY to unlocking them and achieving the flow state. Here is his original article.
